When i was doing spiking neural net research in college we thought a lot about trying to model nns to be more like the actual brain’s activation At the time, we saw either slightly better or same performance in mujoco tasks as the sota DRL algos Interesting things going on

My prediction is that big companies will lay off more engineers because they think LLM generated code is just too good, but then they will have mass failures if production systems which will then lead to a hiring frenzy. Non technical leaders aren’t fully convinced of supervised

There r still so many boring tasks that the masses need to adopt AI for before we’re ready for AGI Why the fk are some ppl still wasting time on excel sheet macros

Life drastically improves the second you start applying yourself deeply in 1 or 2 topics To me it’s kinda been like when a dog feels way happier when walked or trained to behave I can’t imagine not applying myself in music and software

“Im so scared of getting laid off the industry is so scary” *gets assigned high viz projects* “Why am I always getting so much work this industry sucks”

claude code is so much more useful than being a coding copilot i just used it to completely restructure my work obsidian vault cuz it was getting hard to keep track of the most important things folder structures are always hard in my opinion because to box things into a clear

I’m p sure big tech companies hire based on how much shit the candidate seems to be able to take before burning out Maximum output

If I had done the PhD back before I chose to join big tech I would’ve been nearly done by now I used to regret it but lately I’ve been realizing that the same joy for a life of continuous learning and diving deep is still at the core of my daily principles so not much is

You can immediately tell if someone is a good engineer by how they help someone else Interviews should just have candidates help interviewers debug

Just came back from Seattle. Besides the free bananas, the best part of the trip was writing music with my friend and playing at open mics with my band Seattle has a good music culture The Amazon campus feels like corporate Disney

hi it's been so long X outside of work i've been grinding music, love, and giving back to my local community does anyone know a music startup that needs a machine learning engineer or just someone technical in general? (asking for myself)
