First day officially back at work and to work as a team we had Cake Wars!!! A fun spirited competition where groups were given a topic and had to create a cake to match the topic! Fun way to engage teachers in collaboration! BeltonISD #charteroakcheetahs

Great teachers make it look easy… but they actually work really hard at it. Greatness never comes without commitment and sacrifice.

We are not positive because life is easy. We are positive because life can be hard. Give yourself (and others) grace. Speak life and encourage others. Look for the good today. Remember your WHY. Believe the best is yet to come.

If a 2nd grade word problem on a standardized test is written at a 3rd or 4th grade reading level, then you aren’t testing for math, you’re testing for above grade level reading. And doesn't reflect student knowledge of actual 2nd grade math curriculum.

Tyler PD received a tip about a possible active shooter at TJC. While there are no confirmed reports of a shooter at this time, West Campus and Pirtle Technology are being evacuated.

The real learning loss from the pandemic was social and emotional skills. Such as learning to share, take turns, negotiate, & resolve conflicts through play as well as self-regulation & impulse control. Students need unstructured play, recess, & physical activity more than ever.

Teachers who choose to stay in the classroom over moving to administration are leaders too! Honor their choice, dedication, & professionalism. Effective leaders actually embrace this choice and leverage their talents and expertise to benefit the whole school.

Standardized tests have no place in elementary education. Because testing becomes the focus of education instead of learning. We take away the fun and excitement of learning, playing, exploring, & creating. We prepare test takers instead of problem solvers and innovators.
