Laws have been put in place, in the early 2000's, for Yasuni National Park that not only addresses protecting biodiversity and deforestation but also protecting involvement of indigenous communties.

Yasuni is a biodiversity hotspot, boasting "150 species of amphibians found in Yasuni National Park, as well as 121 reptile species, 382 known fish species, 596 species of birds, 300 mammal species, 117 bat species, and over 100,000 insect species."-

Unfortunately we have come to the conclusion that Yasuni National Park will not survive. It is being absolutely ravaged by deforestation and oil drilling companies.The government is powerless as they are desperate for a revenue stream.
