🪡: I will keep this as short as I can, but I anticipate that it’ll be a thread of sorts. In July 2022, I joined this platform to discuss #DeppVsHeard. My goal was to always do that with a level of neutrality. After having followed the UK trial and watching the conclusion (1/?)

You don’t need a PhD to see inequalities, especially when it comes to male victim service provision. Good people like yourself see this. But it does take people with qualifications & experience to write academic papers on this, driven not by ideology but justice & fairness.

When you begin to build up that portfolio of work, evidence, statistics, data, it’s becomes very hard to deny. And if they do deny, then we say we employed the same methodology as they did for their studies of female victims. Does that mean their research is invalid?

Dr. Maz Idriss (@maz_idriss) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Of course not, their (ie women’s) research (of which I am a part of) is still very valid. So if they can’t invalidate our research because we employed the same methodology as they have, they have no choice but to accept. And that is why they always say “Men can’t be victims”.

Dr. Maz Idriss (@maz_idriss) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Because if you say that, that encourages people not to delve or research into the issues. If men can’t be victims, what’s the point of researching men? They’re scared that if we do research make victims, we undermine their ideology, & reveal the falsehood of their claims.

Watching the Titan tragedy unfold was awful. I can only imagine the agony their families must be in. My deepest condolences to all 🤍 This kind of catastrophic failure was unnecessary, inexcusable, and the result of pure negligence in my opinion.

There are also many souls who were lost at sea off the coast of Pylos. Pakistani, Syrian, Egyptian & Palestinian refugees & migrants. Hundreds of people are still missing. The response from Greek authorities is being questioned. My deepest condolences to all 🤍 It’s awful.

I find it interesting that I received the most backlash on Twitter in response to my brief thread pertaining to the Defendant’s ‘09 DV arrest, in which I simply added context to the OG thread, than when I published opinion articles pertaining to the Plaintiff’s victimization.

The theory of DARVO presumes that the accused is the perpetrator. It presumes a perpetrator will utilize DARVO as a means to dodge accountability. The Duluth Model presumes the perpetrator’s gender is male based on its conceptual origins in feminist theory. See the problem?

I have not watched the #DeppVHeard documentary on Netflix. To be a bit blunt, I feel as though that would be a significant waste of my time. Have you watched it? What are your thoughts?

The allegations against Russell Brand are difficult to process. Though I will not exclaim anyone’s innocence or guilt, I will say that I hope the social media response to allegations of this nature will change. There has been a lot of harmful, victim-blaming rhetoric.
