28/11/1918 Uphall's Mrs Robertson has received official notification that her son, Private A. Robertson was killed in action on 15th October. He was shot through the heart whilst trying to recover a wounded soldier. #WW1

8/12/1918 Pte Robert Duthie arrived home in Armadale last night. He had been a German prisoner of war since March. He spent the time working in a woodyard. By the Armistice he was working in rags and barefooted. He never received the Red Cross parcels which were sent to him.

17/12/1918 Major Dr William Anderson, R.A.M.C., has arrived home to Armadale after two years service in Salonica. He was the first Scottish doctor to be asked by the Scottish Medical Association to be released after the armistice was signed.#WW1
