Update: White Plains own Claire Weinstein, first in her semi-final heat, has qualified for the Olympic Finals in the Women’s 200 freestyle! At the age of 17, she is the youngest swimmer on the US Women’s team! Congratulations, Claire your city is proud of you! Go Tigers!

I visited our Youth Bureau summer programs Monday, including our Careers in Medicine, Tech, Entrepreneurship, and Community Garden groups. Impressive work being done by our young people! Thank you to the instructors that make it happen!

Great day for the “Girls in Aviation” program at Westchester County Airport! Young women from White Plains learned about careers in aviation from women who currently hold those positions. A great time was had by all!

Big turnout for our Wellness Fair in downtown White Plains! Advice, exercise, fun,and I even got my Covid and flu vaccines! Yes it’s that time of year, don’t forget!

I was happy to attend the graduation of candidates from our “All About Trees” program yesterday! Participants received training in the basics of tree care to prepare them for job opportunities in the field. Funded by a federal grant that also funds tree installations in the city!

Getting ready to march! White Plains Halloween Parade steps off from the library in a few minutes, finishing at Court St! See You there!

We are commemorating the historic battle of White Plains at Purdy house today. It’s a beautiful day and there are many reenactors. This is a free event and will be ongoing until 4 PM. Stop by!
