Last night the youths carried on their casualty care skills from the previous week’s BA drill where they rescued a casualty. CPR and defibrillator familiarisation learning essential life skills that may help them save a life one day.

Youths from Wick YVS donated some money they raised from a car wash earlier this year to the Caithness FM Toy appeal. They purchased £200 of clothing for kids their own age and Mcallans in Wick very generously topped that up to £300. The items were then donated to the appeal.

Thurso Crew gave Santa a helping hand to deliver presents out to crew members children, and the children of friends and family, Santa was of course chauffeured in one of the towns appliances accompanied by his elf’s who are also on-call firefighters LSO-Highland #SFRS #Santa

Last night the youths were given a tour of Wick Police Station and a talk covering Policing in Caithness and working for Police Scotland by Sergeant Brian Hamilton of Wick Police Station. Thankfully all youths were allowed home at the end of the night!

Tonight’s session started with a question & answer session on pieces of fire service equipment & then fire ground drills focusing on leadership skills and teamwork. Drills were interrupted by a beautiful moon off of Wick Harbour which we all failed to get a good picture of!!

This week saw Wick YVS visit Wick Lifeboat Station to hear all about the work they do, equipment they have and how they contribute towards keeping their community safe.

Crews dealt with a simulated exercise involving a 2 x vehicle RTC - persons trapped, casualties released using PRE along with specialised rescue equipment that’s available on the stations RP #S20P6 and WTL #S20P7 big thanks to local business Malcolms of Caithness for hosting 🚒🚒

Pass out ceremony completed, The young people responded forming a 2xPump PDA to a van on fire persons reported that spread to a building, BA, HRJ’s, MJ’s, dam building, casualty care, LPP used to safely extinguish the fire in front of proud parents, teachers and Senior Officers
