Thursday midday update on #TropicalStormMelissa. The system is organizing and should be a #hurricane by the weekend. The forecast still calls for slow movement north before a turn to the west but a lot of uncertainty still. We will have a full blog update later today.

High pressure building across the Southeast US has led to gusty winds along the East coast of Florida today. The combination of that high pressure and Melissa over the Caribbean will keep winds gusty and #ripcurrent risk high this weekend. #FLWX

Sunrise on dangerous Category 4 Hurricane #melissa additional strengthening is possible. #Jamaica should be sheltering now as heavy rain will cause dangerous flash flooding before the strongest winds arrive Monday Night

#Melissa strengthened to a 160 mph Category 5 Hurricane earlier today making it the 3rd one of the 2025 Season. Torrential rain will continue to fall over Jamaica today before the storm makes landfall sometime tomorrow.
