Reclaiming a neglected public space with art, stories, and community participation! 💥 We used a pasting method to install local school art to a public bird hide to blend in with existing graffiti. The kids also had a go at bird watching 🐦‍⬛👀

Another fantastic conservation day with a phenomenal turn out! 50 people collected litter and worked at the bee garden – putting down sand (as mulch and to encourage wildflower growth) and putting up our snazzy new sign 🐝

#wealdstonebrook has a similar story- no invertebrates, dirty water and local people trying desperately to get the water company, in our case Thames Water 💧 to take proper action instead of "monitoring".

Some good points from Nick Ferrari here. However, we fear that investing in separating the rainwater and sewage systems is the only permanent solution to this issue. It's a conversation nobody wants to have though.

Let's remember that at the same time water companies used our money to pay £66bn in dividends their debts have risen to £54bn. We pay for the debt, on average 20% of our bills. The £123bn that has been spent on investment has been paid by us too. £££ theguardian.com/environment/20…

“There’s too much poo literally in that lake.” Comedian Lee Mack says water companies should not be paying out millions to shareholders when there’s sewage being discharged into places like Lake Windermere.

Water Blitz Spring 2023 results for #wealdstonebrook indicate high levels of pollution, including high levels of dissolved phosphate, but not of ammonia. Thames21

The water industry's idea of spending £10bn to cut sewage pollution is pretty meaningless. There's a lot of guesswork. They have too poor an understanding of their own networks. E.g. Thames Water discovered it only had monitors on 60% of its overflows. One of the unmonitored:

While the rivers under her control are full of sewage. and the infrastructure she oversees is outdated, how can Thames Water 💧 justify a salary of £1.5 MILLION? More shameless behaviour from a water company.
