And that concludes our P7 visits - in teams they excelled in the numeracy relay, earning some cash which they had to budget to buy resources to build the tallest tower possible which also holds a tennis ball! Great STEM skills and team work shown by all West Calder High

A packed day for our S4s at The National Robotarium. They met spot the robot dog who entered some dangerous situations, a robotic whale which collected data from the deep sea, chatted with Ameca the humanoid, saw robotics used in medicine and home assistance WCHS Technologies

As Your Future Week comes to an end at West Calder High, we would like to highlight an opportunity our S3s had this week to speak with Mulholland Contracts about maths in construction and the pathways and opportunities avaliable within this industry.

Another Your Future Week opportunity for our seniors to hear from Raytheon about engineering careers, how maths is involved, and different pathways into the industry, including their graduate apprenticeships. West Calder High

Last week a group of 35 S3 pupils had the opportunity to visit Napier University's skills clinic where they train a variety of medical professions. Pupils tried the everyday maths required by nurses and also got to practise taking observations with the equipment. West Calder High

Our S4s had quite the day at RBS's Thrive event. They chatted with RBS employees about varied careers paths, learnt about prompt engineering to get the most out of AI, smashed a cyber security escape room and had a Q&A with Olypian Duncan Scott about goals. WCHS Technologies
