Year 9 are working on their portraiture unit of work in art. They have studied facial features and developed their drawing skills. Then they studied the work of Pablo Picasso cubist portraits and started developing their own self portraits in this style

Our year 8 classes have been enjoying taking part in some water sports at Haven Banks. Throughout the term our students will try a range of different water sports including paddle boarding, kayaking and canoeing.

Some Key Stage 3 students had the opportunity to attend a Wave Multi Academy Trust Sports Event at Plymouth Marjon University. The students had an amazing day out getting active and were encouraged to beat their own personal goals or targets. Thank you to Youth Sport Trust

This term, fifteen of our students have started individual music tuition with Kip Pratt, a brilliant Visiting Music Teacher, learning keyboard, violin and ukulele. Watch this space for more about our upcoming performances. Including a performance at the Devon County Show !

16 of our students headed up to the Devon County Show to perform. For many students this was their first time singing to an audience. Nerves were running high however, they faced their fears and performed with confidence. We are very proud of them!

Ten Tors evening - dinner was on the go whilst the students enjoyed exploring camp and having a kick around. After dinner, we enjoyed watching the beautiful sun set before settling down with a hot chocolate - we needed to be well rested for the big day!

This week, Key Stage 2 students have been taking part in a Music Week with Elfyn Jones, as part of the Musician In Residence programme supported by Devon Music Education Hub. The focus has been Traditional Tales, with students composing music based on…

The Hare and The Tortoise, The Fox and The Crow and The North Wind and The Sun. Their performances are being made into a short video alongside students’ own art work and will be shared with the rest of the school. Many thanks to Elfyn and DMEH for this fantastic opportunity!

Our Year 9 students spent their day at 'The Mix' on Friday. The Mix is a local music festival for schools, ran by 🎶 Devon Music Education Hub 🎶 Our students got to take part in a range of interactive music workshops whilst also listening to live local bands!

One of our amazing year 10s, had their fire cadet open evening in Bovey Tracey. Finley won Fire Cadet of the Year which is brilliant because the fire cadets at Bovey Tracey are the only ones in Devon. Well done Finley, we are all super proud of you! 🚒⭐️

Our year 11 students finished their activities week with a celebration morning. We reminisced on the last 4 years with laughter and a few tears! The students shared some of their favourite (and not so favourite) memories, and we celebrated all that they have achieved with us.

They were working on a unit of work based on Community Art and were using recycled and salvaged items to produce some pieces of artwork we hope to display in the school grounds for our school community to enjoy. Everyone worked so well and produced some really skilful pieces.
