Seriously, the most tragic thing about the #bafta debacle is how utterly desperate so many filmmakers are to be validated with an 'industry' stamp of approval as though their entire career depends on it. It doesn't. Filmmaking is punk. Get on with it. You do NOT need permission.

Interested to know what horror fans think: did Blair Witch start the 'catatonic person facing wall' thing? Why do other films use it so much in their set pieces? Do the filmmakers not mind the BW reference or is it considered a generic enough trope in its own right?
