The solution to Utah’s housing crisis is clear: we must build. No government subsidy can solve our shortage, but cutting red tape can. That’s why we’re making more land available, streamlining permitting, and expanding financing options — empowering builders to create more homes

Utah’s Commission on Housing Affordability convened at the Capitol today to identify ways to keep the American Dream of homeownership alive, especially for our children and grandchildren. People, organizations, experts from across the state are collaboratively working together.

Utah’s rising generation deserves the same shot at homeownership that many of us had. Mayors from across Utah joined me today to tackle our housing challenge. Together, we’re focused on making homeownership more attainable by aligning efforts, sharing solutions, and accelerating

We’ve set a bold goal: 35,000 starter homes in four years. 5,100 starter homes have been built and sold, and more are underway across the state. But we can’t let up. Let’s make homeownership possible again for the next generation. It’s time to build. More here:

Everybody in Utah wants their kids to live near them, not with them. We’re working hand in hand with our cities and towns while partnering with builders and developers because we want the rising generation to have a real shot at the American dream. And at the heart of that dream

As a synagogue Rabbi for years I know that institutions are hard to create and easy to destroy. Tread carefully; many desperately need reform but don’t take sledgehammers to Steinways.

When our founders spoke of “the pursuit of happiness,” they weren’t talking about comfort or ease. They meant a life of purpose — built on responsibility, service, and self-improvement. As we approach 250 years of the American experiment, Utah has a chance to show what that

This is a frightening statistic. 68%+ is great, but a decline means a decline in stability, economic growth, and upward mobility. Utah has been the most upwardly mobile state for the past while (couple of decades?) That will change as a direct result of increased housing prices.

We’re making it easier for Utah families to find a place to call home. Our second-term plan will help build 150,000 new housing units, including 35,000 starter homes, by cutting red tape and giving the free market the tools it needs to succeed.

Atop this hill off U.S. 89 between Fairview and Mt. Pleasant, you’ll see our nation’s flag. My cousin, Scott Mower, and some of his friends put it up at the old family farm in order to remind everyone who drives by that they love our country. 🇺🇸 God bless America.

utahpolicy.com/wp-content/upl… There are many who believe that we have too many workers and not enough jobs in construction. That narrative is false. We need people to build.
