Last year, the Air District adopted rules to eliminate emissions of nitrogen oxides from natural gas furnaces & water heaters in the Bay Area by requiring new appliances to be zero-NOx. The 1.8 million water heaters & furnaces are one of the largest sources of NOx in the region.

The Air District and CARB have imposed an unprecedented $82 million fine on #Valero Refining Co. for unreported emissions at its #Benicia refinery. Over $64 million will be returned to the local community to finance clean air projects in areas surrounding the refinery.
