(1/7) I thought it might be fun to share a thread giving an overview of several documents that you can implement to improve your team's data management practices. You can read about them all here: datamgmtinedresearch.com/document.html#…

Sunday read. This is hilarious. Engineers are competing who creates the worst UI on Reddit. I think the winners are: 1/ Enter your phone number

Bed Bath & Beyond in Toledo Ohio called the police on my boyfriend and I because we had “too many high ticket items in our cart.” Remind you, it’s a closing sale so everything was 60% off.

Speed reading is not real, and decades of psycholinguistics and reading psychology proves this. Please stop spreading misinformation like this.

Have you ever run an individual-differences study and wondered what order you should arrange your measures? Should you fix the order? counterbalance? Randomize? Fear not! We have a new paper in Psychonomic Bulletin & Review demonstrating it doesn’t matter! doi.org/10.3758/s13423…

Appreciation tweet for librarians! You think you're good at searching for things? Librarians will run circles around your search skills! They WILL find you the stuff you were looking for, and then some! Thanks Vanderbilt Libraries 📚

How stable are individual differences in sentence processing? 👀📖 Check out our new preprint "Measurement reliability of individual differences in sentence processing: A cross-methodological reading corpus and Bayesian analysis" with @iva_koncic, David R. Reich, and Lena Jäger!

If you're interested in probabilistic sentence processing, you might find our new resource useful: we release (w/ @MarelliMar & Simona Amenta) cloze probability values, predictability ratings, and computational estimates for the UCL reading corpus link.springer.com/article/10.375…

If this thing is still on, excited to present work with Duane Watson estimating individual differences in large self-paced reading datasets and seeing whether they depend on the type of sample, study, and sentence structures. Come see us at poster 4112! #psynom23

Apply by Dec 1 to the UCSD Cognitive Science PhD program: cogsci.ucsd.edu/graduates/phd-…. We have an incredible community working on language + cognition + development - if that's up your alley, check us out! I'll also be considering applications to join my new lab opening in Fall 2024.

3rd paper of my dissertation published today in a JML special issue. In the article, we propose a model which integrates psychological and linguistic threads of reading research. It's open access, so head here for more details 👉 doi.org/10.1016/j.jml.…

Very pleased to see this article in print! In a study with 2000 subjects, we track how people read syntactically complex sentences, and find that word predictability estimated from language models does a poor job of explaining the human data. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

How much does a graduate student cost per year in your program? I'm putting together a list of how much graduate students cost departments/faculty at different universities. Please contribute to the attached google sheet and please RT! Thanks! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…

Days ago there was a most interesting discussion regarding the effects of measurement error on regression coefficients. Something that I think was missing was the *key* role that your measurement model has. psychometroscar.com/the-finicky-ef…
