The types of transportation people use is largely determined by the types of transportation cities prioritize. Let's encourage our local officials to build safe, comfortable paths for people walking, rolling, and biking.

Our cities used to be built like college campuses. They were walkable communities with mixed housing styles, civic centers, public spaces, and other amenities all woven closely together. College campuses are designed for people. Let's start designing our cities that way.

Rather than protecting people's voting rights and our city, Valerie Amezcua, Phillip Bacerra, and David Penaloza heard the voices of disenfranchised voters, particularly Latino renters who are experiencing voter suppression, and chose to turn their backs on them. 1/1

Last night, the POA-funded council members Phil Bacerra, David Penaloza and Mayor Valerie Amezcua refused to cancel an election that is no longer certified by the county and disenfranchises almost 1,200 voters. And they knew it.

Peñaloza providing a quote to the media to try to save his public image, despite working w/the SAPOA to undemocratically oust me from office, is a classic case of gaslighting & clearly shows his deceitful nature. Once again, it reaffirms that he is both a liar & an opportunist.

A new Pew Trusts survey finds that building housing near transit and shops, and allowing ADUs, is overwhelmingly popular. So why do elected officials continue to allow one or two unrepresentative weirdos at public hearings to dictate policy? pewtrusts.org/en/research-an…

I am crushed and angry. After an inspiring 2-day huddle on walkability w/ America Walks, I learned that two pedestrians died on City of Costa Mesa streets incl. on a Caltrans District 12 road we know is dangerous & deadly. Pedestrian deaths are preventable, unacceptable, and must be ended.

I love how the most fervent disbelievers in housing-based supply and demand becomes its most ardent supporters when discussing Airbnb. Indeed the study found Irvine rents dropped 3% after banning Airbnb because *drum roll* there was more rental housing.
