If anyone is still in any doubt as to Luxo's debt-riddled tenure at Air NZ, here's Grant Robertson, on pg 198 of his memoir: #nzpol

🚨🇬🇧 Tommy Robinson's racism just ruined an innocent family’s life. He shared a video of a Black man with his white granddaughters, smeared him as suspicious, and unleashed a racist mob. The result? Strangers shouting “p**dophile” outside their home. Let's unpack this 🧵👇

The Minister supports completely cancelling pay equity for secondary school teachers and then offers them 1% and says not to conflate the two…

Road safety public meeting in Mount Eden/Maungawhau & the traffic planner/engineer consultant just back from the Netherlands talks about working with cities to make streets safer, and the unique situation he’s found himself in back in NZ where we’re actively going the other way.

someone should be drafting a Member's Bill to prevent wealthy families using charitable donations to buy special treatment in the justice system.

This week NZ First pulled its support for Marama Davidson’s Consumer Guarantees (Right To Repair) Amendment Bill. Maybe repairing stuff is a bit too woke for NZ First. My #NZpol #cartoon #RightToRepair #ConsumerGuarantees

MFE and MFAT told the Govt that NZ reneging on its climate commitments could have a 'domino effect' internationally. They then tried to retrospectively redact that advice after releasing it in an OIA . Blockbuster yarn from Eloise Gibson. rnz.co.nz/news/national/…

There’s a surprise: ‘The council's submission listed some activities included in its long-term plan that are not considered core services in the bill. They include cemeteries, public toilets, community safety, animal control, road safety… rnz.co.nz/news/national/…

So a 10% pay rise took PM Luxon’s annual salary from $498,300 to $510,300 – a $12,000 increase. Cabinet ministers’ salaries increased by $7500 from $313,100 to $320,600, but teachers get offered 1% & inflation is 2.5%? #IStandWithTeachers #payequity #nzpol stuff.co.nz/nz-news/360798…

“In my 10 years as CTU President I have never had to take this drastic step. Before van Velden was appointed, we always had constructive working relationships with labour ministers, including under National-led governments.” Richard Wagstaff 2/6

It is of the upmost importance that ministers respect the independence of judicial bodies and not politicise them by saying they expect members they’ve appointed to deliver outcomes that suit their political agenda. 3/6

It is deeply concerning that the Minister has told media that she stands by her comments, after the PSA called for a retraction. It is now clear that the Prime Minister must step in and take action to uphold ministerial standards in his cabinet. 4/6

These comments represent the kind of political interference in judicial processes that undermine the rule of law and have no place in a democracy. 5/6

Since she was appointed as Minister, van Velden has implemented constant policy attacks on workers’ rights and unions. There is no ability for workers and the public to have confidence in her as the Minister. It’s time for her to go. 6/6

Just yesterday BVV stated "My focus as Minister is on finding efficiencies and building business confidence". This comes at the expense of employees' safety, and any semblance of fairness and good faith between the parties. I support the NZCTU's comments in the attached thread.
