Viola's Huge Heart Foundation is a San Antonio-based organization established by the Barrios family in 2008 in memory of their mother, restaurateur Viola Barrios, the founder of Los Barrios Mexican Restaurant and La Hacienda de Los Barrios.

The foundation is a not-for-profit organization eligible under Internal Revenue Section 501(c)(3) to accept tax-deductible donations. Viola's three adult children, Louis Barrios, Dr. Teresa Barrios Ogden, DPM, and Diana Barrios-Trevino make up the foundation's board of directors.

On June 15, 2011, the young Viola's Huge Heart Foundation reached it's second historic milestone for a young foundation (Its first milestone was the awarding of it first scholarship). It awarded its second private high school scholarship to 15-year-old Daniela Portillo.

Abigail Isarrarras, our first recipient, graduated a year early from Northwestern University with a double major in Communication Sciences + Disorders and Psychology. She is now attending LSU grad school where she is pursuing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology.

Daniela Portillo, our second recipient, is currently attending the University of the Incarnate Word in Fashion Merchandising.

Daniela Cisneros, our third recipient, graduated from Antonian College Preparatory High School and is attending The University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA).

Samantha Santos, our fourth recipient, graduated last May from Holy Cross High School and now attends Coastal Bend College.
