Fishing. Extraction. Productivity. It seems that Costas Kadis is forgetting half of his portfolio. So far in his hearing, the Commissioner-designate for fisheries and OCEANS seems to ignore that protection of marine ecosystems is key to tackle the triple crisis we face.

Indeed, I am happy to hear that #Kadis wants to base policy on science - which is clear about the detrimental impact of fishing on marine #biodiversity.

At the #EPHearing #Kadis answers Thomas Bajada, stressing the need to implement marine legislation. Indeed, if we could just finally get proper implementation of the #CFP, the #MSFD, and the Marine Action Plan the #EUseas would be a lot better off !! #BlueManifesto #OceanPact

Given that #BottomTrawling does have especially high rates of bycatch and discards, it seems odd that Costas Kadis does not want to address this destructive fishing method in his answers...
