Fire cause: 1115 Nelson Street, 3rd alarm. The 3rd alarm fire that took place on March 11th, 2025 at 1115 Nelson Street was accidental, caused by 'carelessly discarded smoker's material.'

Firefighters have an exterior fire extinguished on the 200 block of W Hastings street, preventing further damage or fire spread into the building. Fire investigators called for cause and origin.

Seconds count when a fire call comes in. This incendiary (intentionally set) fire was moments away from breaking into the windows, extending inside this business. The hard work and quick actions of crews stopped this fire from causing significant damage to the property.

Firefighters called to a deck on fire caused by a cigarette butt that was carelessly discarded. Cigarettes should never be put in planters or discarded outside. A metal container filled with water and/or sand is the only place for cigarettes.

This morning just before 7am firefighters extinguished a unit fire on the 1100 Block of Granville Street in a SRO building. Firefighters helped a burn victim from the unit and was sent to hospital suffering 3rd degree burns. Fire is under investigation.

Firefighters are on scene on the 6000 Block of Balsam for high levels of CO in a residential parking garage. 1 person transported to hospital and a number of others evacuated as a precaution. Always ensure CO alarms are working for early detection!
