This was the first week for the undergraduate students who will be working as UTC Interns for the summer. We welcomed them by playing some mini golf at Peter Pan Mini-Golf, an Austin staple! Looking forward to a great summer.

This week some members traveled to Keystone, CO to represent UT at the joint ITE Western District and Texas District ITE meeting. They had a great time meeting other students and professionals, attending sessions, competing in the Traffic Bowl, and escaping the Texas heat to enjoy the mountain air!

Had a great time escaping the heat this afternoon and celebrating the end of the week at Austin Panic Room escape rooms! Everyone got out with time to spare!

We were visited this week by Dr. Taylor Lochrane from Federal Highway Admn. Dr. Lochrane spoke on the research going on with Cooperative Automated Driving Systems and automated vehicle platooning. His talk was interesting and a great break from TRB paper prep for many of our members!

We’ve spent the past week welcoming the new graduate students to our program. It’s been a great week, and we’re looking forward to what the new semester will bring!

We celebrated yesterday with our first football tailgate of the season before cheering on the Longhorns to a great win! Hook ‘em Horns!

Earlier this week we celebrated #NationalWalkToSchoolDay at Russell Lee Elementary Russell Lee Elem Roadrunners. We had a lot of fun interacting with the students and encouraging active transportation!

We had a great time at the WEP - UT Austin #GirlDay2018 STEM Festival this past weekend! We got to talk about what transportation engineers do and play The Traffic Jam Game with so many bright young thinkers. We're already looking forward to next year!

Last week we partnered with TexITE_Capital_Area to host a talk by @jenduthie, who heads up the Arterial Management Division for ATX Transportation and Public Works. Two of our students received scholarships from CAS-ITE to attend the joint Western & Texas District ITE Meeting this summer in Keystone, CO!
