As part of integration efforts and focus on #HIV prevention & the sustainability agenda, UNAIDS Global with its cosponsers under 2gether 4 SRHR Joint UN Programme will be meeting with the King of Busoga and over 2000 head teachers from the region to dialogue about HIV and teenage pregnancy prevention.

🇺🇬presents progress towards the 2030 treatment targets currently at 94-85-82 vs target of 95-90-86. New #HIV infections have dropped since 2010 but still below the 75% reduction target. Vertical transmissions remain high mainly due to infection during pregnancy & breastfeeding

The initiative aims to use existing platforms of Obwa Kyabazinga to mobilize one million men and boys in the region through giving them information on prevention of @HIV, teenage pregnancies, early marriages and need to support the girl child access Education.

Cultural leaders are major opinion leaders in the communities. The 'Men are Pillars' campaign will promote behaviour change among men and boys in Busoga region to reduce teenage pregnancies among adolescent girls and young women.

Busoga region is 2nd highest among 6 regions in 🇺🇬 with the highest teenage pregnancies @ 28% above the national average @ 24%. With funding support from Sida through 2gether 4 SRHR Joint UN Programme, the p'ship with Kyabazinga of Busoga as Champion will address #HIV & teenage pregnancies in the region.
