Reminder that the amazing poet and essayist Ross Gay will be reading in the 40,000 Windows Cafe tomorrow (Wednesday, Feb. 22) at 2:30pm! The cafe is located (rather fittingly) within the UHD Library.

Yesterday, thanks to UHD English, Ross Gay was in Houston. People asked Ross wonderful questions & invited a conversation on, among things, why the poet tries the poem, what moves us to write, systems of community care, & love as a radical compass. I left renewed & so grateful.

I wrote an essay in Spanish about my relationship to my mom, the United States, and translation. It’s been wonderful to work with my editors Cristina Rivera Garza and Gisela Heffes! Can’t wait to read the rest of this anthology!
