I see that Google is trying to replace the open web with their AI Overviews and I'm not okay with that. AI chat bots is an amazing technology that should exist separate from web search. Not replace it. Google is killing independent websites and open web.

The job of SEO is one of the most AI-proof jobs thanks to the sheer amount of disinformation and poor advice from "experts" shared online. The signal to noise ratio is so bad, I don't think AI will be able to figure it out anytime soon.

I think HTML (choice of tags, structure, etc) plays more important role in SEO than most people think. I spent some time building text extraction from HTML for SEO purposes and it's not simple at all. Especially for landing pages or any rich complex content.
