On 2 March, 1879, P.J. Cosijn, Leiden's first professor of Old Germanic and Anglo-Saxon, asked the Leiden librarian to buy Skeat's edition of the Old English Gospel of Saint John - the book (as well as the letter) is still available to read in UBLeiden today! :)
