Labour Day honours the labour movement's achievements in securing workers' rights. This day commemorates the contributions of unions and advocates who fought tirelessly for fair wages, reasonable working hours, and safe working conditions.

The labour landscape of the 1880s was vastly different. 700 UBC members joined 1,100 workers in Toronto, fighting for a 9hr workday and a raise from 22.5 to 25 cents/hr. By 1919, our unity in the Winnipeg General Strike shaped workers' rights.
