Xin Eric Wang Not sure this is a good trend. A PhD is a gym to learn how to research (in my advisor’s words), so a system that drives applicants to prove they already know how to do it is defeating the purpose and inevitably cutting out those with less access to guidance on how to prepare.

Between Fall 2023 to now, I’ve applied to 16 clinical psychology PhD programs (2 counseling). That number seems low considering average acceptance rates but that’s a lot of personal statement tailoring per program😭 And I can officially say I do not have to do it againđŸ„ł

An Idaho teacher is refusing to back down after school district officials ordered her to remove classroom signs like, “Everyone is welcome here.” “There are only two opinions on this sign: Everyone is welcome here, or not everyone is welcome here,” said the sixth-grade history

In all the rejection and redirection I am reminded of Toni Morrison’s poignant words; you are not the work that you do; you are the person you are. To anyone who didn’t match in phase two or is on the journey to be a Dr. I hope these words resonate with you. Remember who you are.
