Every split-second counts & the Multi-Agency Active Shooter Simulation that took place today in @ValVerdeUSD provided realistic, multi-layered, methodical training that I can see becoming a national model. Thanks to @VVUSDmclark, every officer, agency & volunteer! #vvsafeschools

I had a great time visiting Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary and talking with teachers, the librarian, and even the grounds crew. Beautiful school site! Students were focused & committed to learning @ValVerdeUSD

With schools starting up remember: This year’s students population is the most racially, culturally and linguistically diverse we’ve ever had. Diversity matters. Colorblind approaches are harmful. Talk, teach and affirm who your students are, it’s critical to their learning!
