Thank you to Northern Justice Watch and its partners for organizing this incredible conference and for inviting me to speak about the human rights situation of Hazaras in Afghanistan. Grateful also to all the speakers for their insightful contributions.
Over 256,000 Afghans were deported from Iran in June alone. As a signatory of the 1951 Refugee Convention, Iran must respect its obligations to protect refugees and uphold non-refoulement. This humanitarian crisis demands urgent international response and support.UN Human Rights
The reality is far worse than it seems. In west Kabul, a mother and daughter, after arrest and detention by the Taliban, took their own lives after release. Hundreds of women remain in Taliban custody under dire conditions. The UN must act now. #Afghanistan UN Special Rapporteur Richard Bennett
