The Taliban continues its gender apartheid and ethnic- and religious-centered agenda, especially targeting Hazaras and Tajiks. The international community must urgently address this intersectional violence.

The Taliban continues its campaign of forced displacement against the Hazaras. I visited this very village shortly before their takeover—now, over 25 Hazara families have been expelled, and their land handed over to nomads. This is ethnic cleansing. The world must act now.

The reality is far worse than it seems. In west Kabul, a mother and daughter, after arrest and detention by the Taliban, took their own lives after release. Hundreds of women remain in Taliban custody under dire conditions. The UN must act now. #Afghanistan UN Special Rapporteur Richard Bennett
