Doom has lost its identity in recent years. Only Doom 1, 2 and 64 are true Doom. This doesn't mean the later games are not good. It means that they are not true Doom.

Things that DOOM is: 1. First person action sci-fi horror. 2. 2.5D 3. Piles of corpses all over the floor. 4. Frantic but still scary. 5. A mix of all genres. 6. A main character that cannot jump 7. A main character that cannot look up or down 8. Open source for mods.

Things that DOOM is not: 1. Woke 2. Fully 3d 3. A platformer 4. A superhero power fantasy 5. A cartoon 6. A game with no horror 7. A political statement 8. A triple A experience

Anyone can slap the DOOM logo onto a game and called it DOOM. But it isn't DOOM. True Doom is only 1, 2 and 64.

Legacy Of Rust is True DOOM. This is what they should be doing instead of making these new games that are not truly DOOM at all except in name.

DoomGuy was a a UAC military solider that defied orders and as punishment was sent to Mars to work a crap job. He was not a medieval night, a superhero or a God. Trying to turn him into those things has killed every single ounce of horror from the games.

This is Doom... and next to it is something else entirely. Looks great but it definitely is not DOOM And if it features Easter eggs to mentally deficient youtubers, it's even less Doom.
