While things might be calm on the fire front following recent rains, took the opportunity to swap yellow for orange last week in support of our colleagues NSW SES in the Parkes Incident Management Team as Public Information Officer. Great to be able to lend a hand #nswrfs

NSW emergency service agency members gathered in Sydney today with Minister for Police and Emergency Services David Elliott to welcome the start of summer. Now is a good opportunity to make sure you prepare for when the hot, dry weather does return. #NSWRFS

Recent hot, dry weather is having an impact on grass lands, especially in western NSW. ‘Curing’, where grass begins to dry out, is accelerated under these current conditions and becomes more fire prone. Know and understand your own fire risk, be prepared and have a plan. #NSWRFS

We’ve already seen a number of grass fires start after only a few warm & windy days. The Abattoir Rd Fire, near Mudgee burnt through 8ha before being contained by #NSWRFS & Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters. It’s important to understand your risk & prepare accordingly. rfs.nsw.gov.au/plan-and-prepa…
