🧵/2 In those early years (2008-2012), we didn't have formal after-school programs. We had kids who needed homework help. We had volunteers like Ms. Sharon who showed up and did what was needed.

🧵/3 One day, a boy asked for help with homework. She was ready - until he pulled out a math sheet. 😅 Math wasn't her thing. But reading was. So she helped him read.

🧵/4 Years later, he came back to tell her he'd gone on to help others learn to read because of what she taught him. One volunteer. One child. Ripple effects across 20 years.
