How much salt should actually be used on a driveway or sidewalk (if needed)? Less than 58 g/m2, as shown in this image. Avoiding the over application of salt can reduce the amount of chloride in local waterways and help protect fish and other aquatic wildlife. #LessSalty

“We use 100 times more salt than what is required,” says Tim Van Seters, Senior Manager of #TRCA's @STEPLivingCity, “The University of Waterloo has done quite a bit of research to see what the right level is. The emerging consensus is about 58 grams per metre squared."
