Freeze damage injured #corn plants in many cases without being lethal. Although not often distinct, these are two cases with apparent injury, despite plants remaining alive and growing somewhat. However, severe stunting is apparent. 🌽 #mscorn #plant23 #mscrops #MSUext 🌽

2023 is developing into the most widespread and highest pressure from tarnished plant bugs in cotton in my 51 years as an extension entomologist at Auburn. Numbers are up to four or five times treatment level in some fields.

Record Soybeans Made in Georgia On Aug. 23, Alex Harrell busted a record soybean yield of 206.7 bushel per acre on 2.5 acres on his south Georgia farm, an officially recorded entry in the UGA Extension soybean yield contest. Asgrow’s AG48X9 was the brand.

First detection of tar spot on corn in Georgia today, 5 July. Found in a significant area of field (corn at R5) where earlier aerial fungicide application was not possible because of tree line. Tift County near Omega . UGA Extension

A good example of what we are looking for with soybeans. 20% of the pods have 4 beans, and there just may be a 5 in there. Average 4 pods per mainstem node. Planted at 110k, final stand around 95k. Grower did a great job.

First report of southern corn rust for 2025 comes from Jackson Co, FL. Thanks Caleb Traugh! While none yet known in GA, corn growers in extreme SW GA with corn at tassel or beyond should take threat seriously. Weather now very favorable for infection and spread. UGA Extension
