From replies already submitted it looks like it takes around 10 minutes to complete the questionnaire for my remote issue research (maybe plus a bit to make sure you’ve got figures handy!). Looking for more responses, though!

I have extended my research on remote issue to also investigate why organisations have not implemented it. Takes 10 minutes to complete the survey! Existing Users - tinyurl.com/UHBTx Non-Users - tinyurl.com/UHBTxNU

I thought long and hard about adding to the story…. Should I keep my head down and say nothing? Isn’t that the problem? So no. I won’t do that. There’s obviously a lot of noise about University Hospitals Birmingham in the news, and it deserves a response.

Friendly reminder (two cases this month): If a patient is actively bleeding & is hypotensive, we don’t have to (and we should NOT) wait for hemoglobin to fall below 7.0 g/dl I just saw a patient that received 4 liters of NS but no blood… I think we have scared people a lot

New F1s currently starting their shadowing and induction ahead of changeover next week. What key transfusion messages do we want to share? I’ll go first. #blooducation

Hey #MedTwitter #MedX please remember to report ***ALL*** suspected transfusion reactions to your hospital transfusion service. Not only is the the right thing to do; not only are you required to do; not only can it save the life of your patient; NOT doing it can harm others

Due to life and work getting in the way I had to put my studies on hold but am now in the process of wrapping this up. Anyone who can share info on how they use remote issue, or why they don’t, I’d love to hear from you, but I will be closing soon!

We had one of these (empty tube not HbA1c) arrive in blood bank. TPs were dispatched to go find the “bleeder” to discover them pre labelling the tube at the desk… again. Pre labelling makes you look like a plonker when you send an empty tube to the lab but it can be deadly…
