A wood burning stove caused a fire earlier night at a home along the 400 block of Pine Street in Lamar, according to the Darlington County Fire District. Officials said the fire has been ruled as accidental.

The US Senate reconvenes this morning for a vote on a bill that includes the Lumbee Fairness Act. Tamra Whitted of Lumberton believes the bill will pass and is doing “The Lumbee Call” in celebration of it.
