The end of a glorious era tonight as Gideon Coe, the finest music broadcaster there is (in my humble but correct opinion), hosts his final show in the 9pm-midnight slot on 6 Music. Gather the whole family round the digital Bakelite radio and drink it in for one last time.

They did well to get this out so quickly, seeing as it's barely a couple of weeks since he kept Huddersfield up.

Reduced rations of Riley & Coe still way better than no rations at all. Will be lovely to have them back. And after years of their excellent but brief chats on Marc's show, looking forward to a full two hours of Chuckle Brothers-esque knockabout fun on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

When I was an English Lit student it would take me all day to come up with some mediocre observation about the life's work of Homer or Shakespeare, but I could genuinely give you 3000 words right now about all the differently brilliant aspects of this bit of writing.
