Thinking more about Pasatiempo. I seem to have become a critic of the current work. I will say it bugs me when Matt Ginella and others trumpet it as a restoration. Seems to me the bunkers are being VERY coolly restored by Matt Hochstein and others… they look incredible. But…

/2 seems to me the greens aren’t really being restored; they’re being improved to allow for cool fun putting at modern speeds. That too is great! People will love them. Most did think many MacKenzie’s greens were goofy at modern sports with 18 being a perfect example.

/3 The new greens will be very fun. People will love them. You just can’t call them restorations then can you? But that really doesn’t matter other than a silly technical point.

/4 finally, I’ve bitched about the price but the truth is as a local wishing to play it a lot it was out of my comfort zone at the previous before. At $475 it’s just that much more so. I can’t pay that. But many will! And if it’s now on a par with other local greats well..

/5 it was a good run. 😀😀 It’s going to be a great success! If curmudgeons like me pine for what was, well… we’re a tiny minority. Good luck to all there and I’m sure I’ll play it someday, somehow. Just bear with me as I call you guys on the restoration term. 🙂
