#whatstation 858 is also in Scotland, almost certainly Glasgow, on the edge of an industrial area. Bay platform, two through platforms, one platform shelter, at least two more avoiding lines, lower right. Ticket office on road bridge, probably. Can anyone name this place, please?

Bit of a coup for the team ⁦Severn Valley Railway⁩, but more importantly, we’re heading back to ⁦SVRBridgnorthStation⁩. That’s going to reduce my fuel bills a bit! bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Our brief visit to the Kyle line ends with this view of Achnascheen, still a block post in 2025, on 28 August 1958. crecy.co.uk/product/rail-a…. Black Five No 45476 is at the head of what is described as a mixed train for Inverness which has 5 or 6 fitted vans at its tail.

Looking fit as a fiddle with polished brass & a fresh coat, Drummond 'Black Motor' 30699 awaits a return to Nine Elms from Eastleigh following an overhaul in 1954. A Dübs product of May 1897, it'd been rebuilt with a superheater 30 years later in 1927 under the order of Maunsell.

A red disc loudly proclaiming that it not be moved, Jubilee 45572 Eire, undergoing overhaul, is caught at Crewe Works on 30th May 1954 after a repaint. Behind it, looking rather patchwork can be seen Black Five 45499, sporting the larger cab numerals that were St Rollox practice.

On 12 September 1957, Ivatt Class 2 No 46468 leaves Marks Tey and is starting its journey to Haverhill on the Colne Valley line. Strictly speaking, it was heading to Haverhill North a former GER station, as the Colne Valley South station had closed as early July 1924.

A sight SVRBridgnorthStation which we’ve looked forward to for years. A fire warms the newly refurbished boiler of 1947 Swindon built Prairie No 4150, the last Severn Valley Railway ex Barry loco to be restored. Allocated for many years to Stourbridge Junction, a perfect engine for the SVR.

#OnThisDay 101 years ago the TfL Northern Line extended from Hendon Central to Edgware via Colindale (Burnt Oak was a little late to the party in October 1924). The main engineering project was Burroughs Tunnels, perfectly captured here by @Tubemapper buff.ly/kDr4GW1

I've been busy with the scanner this afternoon. For starters, No 4080 Powderham Castle, then allocated to Westbury, is seen at Dorchester Junction with a Paddington to Weymouth train in August 1951.
