Do you know anyone hiring for someone remote from NZ? I've got lots of experience helping OSS projects grow (as PM of the TypeScript Lang team, and as an engineer on Rust Language at Mozilla). I love systems level work, working with developers, and working in open source. (DMs open)

The first meetup for 2019 will be on Wednesday the 27th of February at the WhereScape Auckland office. No presentations planned yet, so we'll just share C++ news and catch up. meetup.com/Auckland-C-Mee…

Unfortunately there almost certainly won't be a Pacific++ in 2019. If we were to come back in 2020, what is your preference?

I've done a lot of travel lately. Mostly directly because of #cplusplus. I think I'm going to try this: 1 observation / factoid about places I've been to for reach retweet. I'll start with random observations about drinking water, see how far that goes.

There is now a Slack workspace for discussions relating to the meetup and the C++ in Auckland in general. join.slack.com/t/aucklandcpp/…

We have committed to a 2020 Pacific++ in Sydney. Date and location TBC. If you are potentially interested in speaking please DM us as it will help select the conference structure. We are really excited, hope to see you there. #cpp #cplusplus

Here's a progressive coupon for my book, C++ Best Practices, good for 36 hrs from now. The coupon starts at 9.99 USD. For each retweet this gets, I'll reduce the price by 0.01 USD. The maximum reduction is 700 retweets @ 2.99 USD for the book! leanpub.com/cppbestpractic…

I have spoken at CppCon in the past. I will not do so again, or attend, unless this is sorted out satisfactorily. I fully support Patricia's stance on this and have signed her open letter.

I think I'll host a Zoom tomorrow to present the Safe C++ stuff I've been working on. I need to get informed people up to speed with what I have so there can be a discussion on some of the finer, unresolved points about integrating safety into C++. How does 10am EST sound?
