Sad to see reports of vehicle damage to nests. Sea level rise will cause big changes to shorebird nesting sites. Improved climate change resilience in the short term requires managing existing threats. stuff.co.nz/national/polit…

I'm not a fan of the term "sea level rise," which connotes oceans that get higher but still, perhaps, remain separated from dry land. I think I'm going to start using the phrase "expanding oceans," or something like that, to clarify that the water's going to cover the coasts.

Happy Penguin Appreciation Day! 🐧 The Little Penguin is the smallest of the world’s 18 penguin species, and the only penguin that breeds here in Australia. They’re found along Australia’s southern coastline and in New Zealand. šŸ“¹Phillip Island Nature Parks

Successful day - completed our UAV flights for our work on vegetation-small island biogeomorphic processes. Next task - ground truthing the results. #Maldives #photogrammetry #GeographyOtago

Initial NIWA field data from Omaha in Auckland shows the sand #CycloneGabrielle removed, and how important our barrier beaches are. Summer berm and aeolian ramp are gone, and steep cliff is carved into what was the foredune ridge. Exposed rootlets show at least 5m was removed

A fantastic three days exploring the wonders of biogeography/environmental management with amazing Otago Uni Geography GEOG301 students! We got our hands dirty sampling vegetation on the braided rivers of South Canterbury. 🌱🌾 #FieldTripAdventures #EducationBeyondTheClassroom
