Patient blaming is unjust & harmful. "This isn't your fault." "You didn't cause your own illness." "You HAVE been taking care of yourself!" ...are things I say to undo the blames. A LOT. Have you been blamed for your ill health? Please comment if comfortable.🩷 #AskThePatient

Patient: "The prices here are outrageous! How is a Banana $22?" Me: "I... Wait, what?" Shows me the menu Me: "Oh! That number means the amount of carbohydrates!" Patient: "Yeah that makes more sense. So you're sure the hospital isn't charging $22 for a Banana?" Me: "No I am not."

Nobody: Nobody at all: Seriously not a single person: EHR Nerds: "Isn't it beautiful that when someone gives birth to a baby, their medical record also gives birth to a smaller, brand new medical record?" #MedTwitter

If IDPH | Illinois Department of Public Health recommends up to (or beyond) 32 mg of buprenorphine daily for opioid use disorder, why does BCBSIL medicaid only cover up to 24 mg/day, with patients needing higher dosages having to pay for the rest out of pocket? Make it make sense. #addictionmedicine #medtwitter

My contribution to the current #medtwitter conversation. The truth is that we see only a little of anyone else's labor, even our learners. The hours of study, the conversations with patients and nurses... We should be slow to judge, quick to support, and patient in our teaching.

Hospital EPIC is simultaneously like "you need to be available on chat 100% of the time while you're on call this weekend" and also "you logged onto Citrix from this browser TWICE today, seemed pretty sus. You can't login anymore, contact system administrator." #MedTwitter

I remained convinced that one key difference between a mediocre hospitalist and a good hospitalist is the willingness to do a little math. #MedTwitter

I'm just saying that if we really wanted them to be prepared for their first day of Clerkships, we'd hide their OSCE patients all over the med school and not tell them how the rooms are numbered. #MedEd #MedSchool

Thinking about writing a memoir about my life teaching #medschool. I'll call it, "I Panicked Because I Didn't Think I Would Have Enough Material, Now I'm Panicking Because I Ran Out of Time." #meded
