Tim Kittel For me it’s receiving a .doc (97-2003) - I need a stiff drink to cope. IT’S BEEN TWENTY YEARS, can we move with the turn of the century times??

Curled up on the couch with a book published in 1957. I'm doing vocabulary learning. My newest words are 'insuperable' and 'hoydenish'. Oh, I'm going to be an absolute joy when I engage in smalltalk with the checkout operator at the supermarket tomorrow.

Tim Kittel "Every age has its own outlook. It is specially good at seeing certain truths & specially liable to make certain mistakes. We all therefore need the books that will correct the characteristic mistakes of our own period. And that means the old books." CS Lewis With vocab to boot👍

Women who have a brain injury from repeated hits to the head and/or strangulation frequently miss out on their brain injury being diagnosed - this means they don’t receive treatment for issues such as cognitive problems, memory loss, communication problems. This must change.

An exciting step for IASLT journal Advances in Communication and Swallowing. The journal has just been accepted into Scopus! We are now indexed on Google Scholar and Scopus. Even more reason for MDT members to publish communication and swallowing research with us! Thanks for the support to date #iaslt

It suddenly occurs to me that the myths around dragons occurred several thousand years before we uncovered dinosaur bones, and this has convinced me that this glitch means we are totally in a Matrix

I concluded today that there is no such thing as object permanence. This explains why my glasses are not ever where I left them. I wonder if they actually do disappear and maybe I manifest them back. Maybe we’ve all been sold a lie.

I’m working clinically on Saturdays. The head shift has been a bit much. I have literally just now ended off a case note with the words “best wishes” …

I’m reading a journal article that I rather stupidly printed on A3 paper. As I read it I have to move the paper upwards. It feels a little like the beginning to a Star Wars movie and therefore much more exciting. I shall be reading all articles like this in future.

I’m so set in my old ways. When someone calls me and their I.D. comes up on my phone I still answer as though I don’t know who’s called me, and feign surprise. Is it just me doing that?

I invigilated a 3 hour exam yesterday. It was just lovely to see GenZ using pen and paper again. At the end of the 3 hours I said “congratulations on finishing, you missed a whole lot of stuff on TikTok though” and you could see them all flinch nervously.

Dear Herman Melville, Moby Dick may well be a classic piece of literature. Were I to give this sentence to student speech pathologists, and ask them to perform a grammatical analysis of it however, you sir would be responsible for many, many deaths.

Dear Karen Carpenter, Birds only appear when that special person is near because you like that person and you are susceptible to noticing other pleasant things. This is called confirmation bias. Please note that correlation does not imply causation.
