No matter what we look like or what’s in our bank accounts, we should be all able to afford to pursue our dreams through higher education. Thank you President Donald J. Trump for helping us make this dream a reality. I look forward to continuing to work with the The White House to #CancelStudentDebt.

On the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina (8/29), I’m reminded of not only the destruction of my home and community, but also that the experience radicalized me. I was 17 at the time. These events below, personally and systemic, shook my worldview.

California school district is asking “parents to let teachers move in as rents soar.” This is the inevitable result of a society that intentionally devalues teachers.

Dear Teachers and School Staff, Thank you. Thank you for all you do every single day. Thank you for giving your hearts, souls, knowledge and money to your students. Hopefully, one day soon, society will invest in you as much as you invest in your students and schools.

I don’t think there’s a staffer that’s worked for Sens. Johnston, Landrieu or Team JBE that will deny that Ms. Alicia is the reason we survive. And if you get “the look,” you better change your attitude quick. Trust me. We love you, Ms. Alicia.

Today, we remember the 21 fourth-graders and teachers who were killed and 18 who were injured in Uvalde, TX one year ago. Our hearts are with the survivors and families of the victims, who should've been safe. We will never stop fighting for the future our children deserve.

Today is #BlackWomensEqualPayDay, a reminder that Black women like me are still too often denied the compensation they deserve. Unions narrow this unjust pay gap substantially—ensuring everyone is paid fairly and equally, no matter their race or gender. Solidarity is powerful!

As educators, we believe in peace for all children. Today, NEA's Board voted to reaffirm NEA’s call for a mutual ceasefire in Gaza, the release of hostages, and a desperately-needed increase in humanitarian aid. Both Israelis and Palestinians deserve a safe place to call home.
