“How will you feel if Bill Clinton gets implicated by Jeffrey Epstein?” I dunno - feeling pretty fucking good with my “any pedophile is bad” policy

Under the FLSA, it is illegal to: 1. Use volunteers for your for-profit business. 2. Charge people to work for you. 3. Charge people to shadow you at work or on events.

Today is May 1st. Also known as the first Monday in May. Also known as Met Gala Day. Also known as the day thousands of people decide they hate museum fundraisers because this one funds something they think of as valueless: the archive and preservation of fashion history.

yes we do, it was bad. the failure of our society to provide decent housing and medical care does not somehow give a random guy license to choke someone to death on a subway car

The best piece on the ultra luxury wedding industry I’ve read in forever (and not just because I was interviewed for it). Favorite line: “I’m probably the most expensive help there is, but I’m still the help.”

It’s important to note that the average is $30k because it includes the couples who only spent $80 on a marriage license at the courthouse. A $30k wedding also has an average of 42 vendors working on it. The $ doesn’t split evenly but, if it did, they’d get less than $715 each.

I met Joan Rivers at a party where I knew no one. She then took me around and introduced me to everybody. A kindness I will never forget.

Say what you like about TikTok, but my family owns the Notting Hill Bookshop (yes, the one from the film) and the surge in young people buying books in the last year because of booktok has been wonderful to see. It's making reading cool again & I will always love the app for that

The idea that we don’t “owe anybody anything” is why community is so fractured nowadays. Courtesy is not about a debt to others. It’s simply about honoring basic human dignity. People deserve to be treated with dignity. Full stop.

Saying "Everything sucks" and "we are doomed" is, in fact, not helping. If you think the democracy we have is not good enough for your participation, you're gonna be dazzled by what we get next.

sorry but i will never understand people being against free meals for kids in school. I do not give a shit if some families who can afford lunch get free lunch....feed the fucking kids.

Do you know what narcissists do when they find out that they are spectacularly wrong? No? You're about to. And it's not pretty.
