Our politics & our press over-simplifies big issues & highlights intractable division. Yet whenever I’m involved in a deliberative process with citizens I’m reminded how good people are at listening, understanding, sharing views & even shifting them in response to others.

Inflation is rapidly eating away at the levelling up money announced months ago. The longer it takes for that money to land with #localgov, the more their planned projects are going to have to shrink. Frustrating when high streets are facing (more) tough times.

So the first sitting PM found guilty of a criminal offence, whose lack of integrity led a record number of his own ministers to resign, & whose willingness to break international law (his OWN Brexit deal) diminished Britain’s standing abroad: the MP for #TheWrekin wants HIM back?

A civil servant texts: "I’ve had meetings with ministers cancelled because they are too focused on their infighting and leadership campaigns. This madness means that absolutely nothing can be done, and even if they get a new leader, we’ll get new ministers and every time...

Great thread on house-building targets. We a) keep failing to hit annual govt target by 100,000+; b) the target itself is arguably too low to meet natural growth in households & c) the target would in fact need to DOUBLE to give us same no. of homes per cap as comparator nations.

Often in #climate #engagement folks say they’d use trains if the cost & experience made them more appealing. I’ve taken 2 Trafnidiaeth Cymru / Transport for Wales trips in 2 days: packed seaside services yet just 2 carriages, no AC, very few opening windows & unbearably hot. The UK HAS to sort this out.
