Hey y’all 👋🏾 I took a few months away to take care of myself and I’m excited to catch up with y’all ❤️ Random updates: 1. The kitties are thriving 🥹 2. I haven’t had the urge to quit grad school in a solid week 💪 3. Life is genuinely good ☺️

Grad school is not a solo adventure. I have extremely high driving anxiety. And I live in Michigan so when it snows my advisor agreed for my work to be remote the next day. And my amazing friends rotate driving me to class. My success is dependent on having people who care.

Grad School Update: Today I completed my last required physics course EVER*!!!! A win is a win 🙌🏾 *not including dissertation credits but y'all know what I mean

Admitting the words “I don’t know” will eventually lead to the education of everyone in the room. And in my experience, a true educator will use the most elementary questions as a segue to enriching conversation.

The last year of my life was probably the hardest thing I’ve experience. But a dear friend has convinced me to come back… hope y’all are ready for the cat photos 🐈🐈‍⬛

I’ve been mentoring a phenomenal woman in physics for a while. We spent a year working on her grad applications and she was excepted to MSU!! She comes to visit next and I’m so excited to finally meet her in person. Y’all my heart is so full 🥹🥹🥹

I’m in D.C for a few days and I took the morning off to go visit the monuments. I’m just now learning they drained the reflection pool and I missed my chance for a real photo opp 🤦🏾‍♀️ Also I’ve had like 3 Uber drivers offer to sell me a house I clearly can not afford 😭

Life update: tonight I was awarded the MSU Graduate Student Leader of the Year Award 👑

Guessing who is graduating this week??? 👀 I’ll receive my master’s degree in physics from MSU on Friday May 5th, 2023. Getting a PhD is the hardest thing I’ve ever attempted and I think I deserve to celebrate the milestones in between 😊🎓✨

It took the Supreme Court ruling on affirmative action to give me back on this app because I’ve got questions…. Right now main question I’m asking is how will this affect HBCU admissions, federal funding, and demographics over the next 10 to 15 years.
