You ever find out your 20-minute audio dictation for your book is nothing but the sound of your phone moving in your pocket because your bluetooth headphones messed up somehow? Yeah, me neither.

Finally mostly healthy after nearly 2 weeks constantly sick. Partially my fault—I wanted to hit the ground running in Japan. Didn’t let myself rest. I get so much energy being here. I feel the urge rising but I’m trying to take it slow. I just want to run around Tokyo.

Visited my first ever tea field—Yoshida Cha En in Ibaraki. Touched tea, ate tea (raw from the plant), drank tea. Filmed some of it and will try to cut some reels to share on Instagram.

After 7+ years of writing online I think I finally figured out what the hell I'm talking about: When I'm talking about tea, I'm talking about craft Which also happens to be the part of Japanese culture that fascinates me And also happens to be vanishing at an alarming rate

Simple pleasures of life in Japan: The distinctive call of the "uguisu" (Japanese bush warbler). You can hear it in the background as I enjoy the languid display of carp flags waving over the nearby Asakawa river for Children's Day festival.
