I don’t believe in hauntings, but I do believe in the love that once lived there—eternal, almost tangible. As if I could reach out and brush the hem of a mother’s apron as she stands at the kitchen window, watching her children chase frogs and pick dandelions in the tall grass.

If you knew you were leaving this earth tomorrow, how would you spend today? The things we chase so hard here—status, money, cars—won’t follow us there. I imagine we’d turn our hearts toward the things that do. You might sit with your children, telling stories and flipping

ļæ¼A Spirit House Cemetery features small wooden houses built over graves—an old Native American tradition meant to shelter and protect the spirit on its journey. Examples include the Bay Mills Old Indian Burial Ground in Michigan and cemeteries of the Dena’ina people in Alaska.

I saw this plaque on a park bench in Salt Lake City. It made me wonder—if someone put my name on a bench one day, what would it say? I’d hope for ā€œAn Adventurous Gal.ā€ What would yours say?

While I admit this would be a delicious addition, you can’t hijack my Carolina cornbread and turn it Louisiana right out of the gate like that. šŸ˜†
