What’s the most #random thing you’ve ever had to take from a #student? Today I had to take a wooden spoon 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️— #middleschool #teachelife #teachertwitter

Why do we care more about getting kids to do geometry in middle school than we do about them learning to set boundaries for themselves. We need to create more space for #SEL— #education #teachertwitter

Today at recess duty a 6th grader expressed her #anxiety over #COVID19 cases rising, #student and staff absences, and a lack of proper #mask wearing by her peers. This is NOT what a 12 year old should need to think about. #teacher

Today a student said, “Why it is okay for us to walk to school in subzero temperatures? I’m just not coming” #WWYD - Would you walk a mile (in some cases longer) in subzero temperatures? We need to get them in the door in order to #teach them. #education #teachertwitter

Today a student asked me if this was an old time thing. I turned around to see a pencil sharpener. I answered “I would not define it as an old time thing”(because I am not an old time thing).” The kid continues to use sharpener whispering “this is so satisfying” 😂 #teacherlife

A student walked into #class today and due to so many of her peers being absent with #covid19 said, “wow, it feels like last year when only half the class could attend”. #pandemicteaching #education

Today #students learned of another staff member leaving mid-year. They walked in upset asking “are they leaving because they don’t like us?” I replied, “you are the only reason I want to come to work & I promise that YOU are not WHY” 💔🥺💔— #teachertwitter #teacherlife #teacher

“We hold these truths to be self-evident…that among these are #Life, #Liberty and the #pursuitofHappiness.”— LIFE comes BEFORE your LIBERTY to own a weapon. LIFE is more IMPORTANT than the #secondamendment - #GunControlNow #StopGunViolence

As a Soldier and a teacher I can say that no teacher should ever have the responsibility or requirement to carry a weapon to educate. I can give you many reasons why this would be a catastrophic failure.
